AR Rahman's One More Magic

After continuous successes of ‘Raavanan’, ‘VTV’, ‘Enthiran’, ‘CWG Theme Song’ and ‘Puli’, A.R. Rahman’s next release ‘Jhootha Hi Sahi’ has made it bigger.

A.R. Rahman’s magical success with Abbas Tyrewala in ‘Jaane Ya Tu Jaane Na’ was a big blockbuster. Nearly after couple of years, the duo comes together for the film ‘Jhootha Hi Sahi’ (Lying is always right). Starring John Abraham and Abbas’ wife Pakhi, the film has 9 tracks that are delivered on a completely unparalleled style from his previous albums.

‘Cry Cry’ and ‘Maiyya’ have already become chartbusters and rests of the songs are haunting down the towns with its fever.

The film is about a compulsive liar, who knows nothing but just telling lies. In an unexpected manner, a girl enters his life and again constant lying gets him into discombobulated scenario.

A.R. Rahman's Common Wealth Song Is Highly Downloaded

A.R.Rahman
Creating records is not a new thing for A R Rahman. He did it once again on Saturday when the theme song composed by him for the Common Wealth Games was released at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi.

If one has to go by reports, within two hours of the song’s release, it was downloaded more than 7,000 times. As Rahman croons ‘Khelo, jeeyo, hey-o, let's go…’, the rousing chorus takes the song forward, thereby giving an emotional appeal.

On Saturday, the Oscar-Grammy winner sung the song for around five minutes in front of a gathering which included Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda and CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi.

“I feel honoured to get the opportunity to compose the theme song for the mega-event. It was not an easy task. I had started composing it six months ago and finished just last night,” the Mozart of Madras said.

A beaming Kalmadi hailed the launch of the theme song as a good beginning to the hosting of successful Games. “A well beginning is the half job done. Now onwards you will listen this song day in and day out,” he said.

A.R.Rahman re-schedules North American leg of Jai Ho concerts

After some super-successful shows in New York, New Jersey and Washington DC, Academy Award Winner A.R. Rahman was forced to cancel his show scheduled to take place on June 19 at Detroit following an infrastructure collapse at The Pontiac Silverdome. The incident occurred during stage construction prior to the show and fortunately no one was seriously injured. However, the sad news is that following this freak incident, Rahman has decided to re-schedule the North American leg of his Jai Ho - The Journey Home series of concerts.

Says the acclaimed music director, "As you may know, members of our tour miraculously escaped a big disaster in Detroit last Saturday, when part of the Pontiac Silverdome infrastructure collapsed on our set. All the artists, singers, musicians, dancers, technicians (myself included) have been almost given a second life. We are working to recoup all that has been lost (the lights, the sets) which will take us over three weeks to complete. The vision for the show includes beautiful choreography and circus acts and it feels less than not to include them. All the world over, the show has received a very positive response from those who have seen it, which makes it absolutely necessary for us to present a complete show and feature all the components that were lost due to the incident."

Rahman adds, "With that, we have decided to postpone the remaining dates of the North American leg of this tour and will reschedule them at a later date. We will go ahead with the concerts scheduled in Europe and UK. That is the best option we have, considering the circumstances."

He also had a word of consolation for his fans in US and Canada who have been eagerly waiting to see him perform live. Says Rahman, "While I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our friends in the US and Canada, maybe it's a blessing in disguise, as we will have the opportunity to perform for you with even more energy and perfection. Once again, let us all pray that we are alive and thank you in advance for your understanding, love and cooperation."

Rahman's world tour will now resume in Zurich on July 16 followed by a string of concerts across UK and Europe.
