Alexandria Mills of USA won the Miss World crown for 2010 defeating more than 100 other hopefuls at a glittering ceremony in southern China.The tiara was placed on her head by former Miss World Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar and led her to a diamond-shaped throne, in honour of the pageant's 60th anniversary.
Botswana's Emma Wareus was second, and Venezuela's Adriana Vasini was placed third in the competition, held in the Chinese resort town of Sanya on Hainan island.
The gala event kicked off with a traditional Chinese folk dance, followed by the introduction of the Miss World contestants.The contestants set the stage on fire with an act aptly titled “Dances of the World”.The jury included former Miss World winners – Denise Perrier Lanfranchi (1953), Ann Sidney (1964), Mary Stavin (1977), Agbani Darego (2001) and Maria Julia Mantilla (2004).
