For the past few years, Devi Sri Prasad has been the favoured music director of all films made by ‘Jeyam’ Raja and starring his younger sibling ‘Jeyam’ Ravi in the lead. Most of Raja’s films had been remakes of popular Telugu hit films to which Prasad had scored music and it was felt that it would be easy for him to make the necessary ‘voice track’ adjustments in the Tamil version as well.

The trend, though, has now changed. ‘Jeyam’ Raja is all set to direct Vijay (all his films had previously had only ‘Jeyam’ Ravi as the hero) in his upcoming film ‘Velayudham’, to be produced by Ascar Ravichandran. This would be a direct film and not a remake one and as such, Vijay Anthony has stepped in as the music director, replacing Raja’s preferred choice of Prasad.
Vijay’s indulgence in all aspects of film-making in his films is also cited as the reason for the replacement of Prasad by Anthony. Vijay is said to be mighty impressed by the ‘Puli Varugudhu…’ number composed by Vijay Anthony and has told Raja to make Anthony as the music director for his upcoming film as well.
